Background and objective of the training

The follow-up training is designed for responsible management staff of selected TVET institutes, civilian officials from Banadir, Jubaland, Puntland and Somaliland as well as representatives of the chambers of commerce in the named states. The training is based on the face-to-face training “Linking TVET with the private sector” that was conducted in July 2023 in Addis Ababa.

While the training in Addis Ababa gave the 16 participants an overview of the topic, it is the overall objective of the training that the same participants will acquire more in-depth knowledge which allows them to act practice-oriented according to their tasks and responsibilities.

Implementation concept of the training

As a result, thematic topics and learning objectives were stated for a blended-learning training which will consist of three interventions:

  1. Kick-off, introduction to the training (preferably hybrid)
  2. 2 trainings (face-to-face in Nairobi
  3. Coaching activities (remote)

The two face-to-face trainings which will take place in Nairobi, Kenya, will cover three thematic clusters (cluster A: Industry involvement; cluster B:Structure and communication; cluster C: Quality assurance) that have been derived from the experiences of the first training in Addis Abbaba and mirror international experiences on the topic.

The specific conditions of the participating states will be taken into account to provide participants with valuable insights and practice-oriented tools to stimulate cooperation with the private sector. Through all interactive sequences, participants can compare theoretical content with their daily work and the current conditions in their states and thus internalise what they have heard.
